There are many different steps and processes required to achieve that beautiful lawn you’ve always wanted for your property. One of the most important steps, critical to your lawn's success is Dethatching and Core Aeration.  Dethatching in Spring and Aeration in Autumn of the lawn areas followed by overseeding with premium lawn seed is necessary for good lawn health. 

Annual Dethatching of a lawn offers several benefits, primarily improving the health and appearance of your grass by removing excess thatch. This process allows air, water, and nutrients to reach the soil and roots more effectively, promoting stronger root growth and a more vibrant lawn. Dethatching also helps prevent disease and pest infestations by removing a layer where they can thrive.   We recommend applying a Spring Fertilzer in April (7-34-20) to help promote healthy roots and minimize weed growth, Dethatching and/or Aerating in May, immediately followed by Overseeding and then Summer Fertilzer in June (28-4-8) to help thicken and keep lawns looking green and healthy.

Annual Aeration is beneficial because the soil underneath your lawn will compact & condense over time. This can happen for a variety of reasons; Vehicles, People, Kids, Equipment, Summer Droughts, basically any stress over the lawn areas will compound the soil, over time this will yield less than optimal soil conditions. This in turn, affects the root system growth as well as nutrient delivery mechanisms resulting in a lackluster lawn.  Lawn Aeration counteracts this soil compaction process by puncturing holes in the earth and removing soil plugs, reversing the compaction process.  We recommend aerating in the Fall between early September to early October followed by Overseeding and Fertilizer.
